Tonium Pacemaker Imagine your 60GB or 120GB iPod. Wouldn’t it be great if it could mix tracks together as well? Well that’s exactly what the Tonium Pacemaker is, a pocket-sized DJ Mixer! In this Tonium Pacemaker Review, I will let you know all about this exciting gadget, what’s good about it, what’s not so good about it and whether or not it’s the right choice for you.The Tonium Pacemakeris great for being on the move and wanting to play or practice on the bus, plane, trains and those boring long car journeys. The simple fact that this little device squeezes so much in the way of performance and functionality into a space no bigger than a handheld game device is incredible. The touch pad and buttons on the Tonium Pacemaker respond at lightning speed which will make your latest top brand touch screen phone seem slow. The portable DJ Mixer even comes with Tonium’s very own software for Mac or PC which will let you refine mixes created on the Pacemaker and save them or share them to the community.

You would think that this hand held, 4 Channel DJ System would consume a lot of power and not last very long with the amount of features it has. However, the Tonium Pacemaker can last up to 5 hours of mixing tracks and an astonishing 18 hours of playback only. It also only takes 2 hours to fully charge using the AC adapter included in the box or , if you use the mini-USB connection, it could take 4 hours. I recommend you check out the video below so you can see the Pacemaker in action.

Let’s take a look at the Portable DJ Mixer’s Features:

  • Each virtual deck includes an adjustable three-band EQ section, an effects section (filter, echo, reverb, and roll), and controls for gain, pitch, cue point, track scan, and loop points
  • Displays the BPM of the current track and offers a generous pitch adjustment range of +/-100 percent
  • Capability to record and save mixes
  • Cue – auto-cue at track start and set cue point.
  • Dynamic beat detection – 0.1 BPM precision
  • For a full, detailed list of the Tonium Pacemaker’s features, see the manufacturers description.
The Good
  • Costs much less than buying a whole DJ setup
  • Can get out of the booth onto the dance floor when DJ-ing (take the party with you!)
  • Very small, take it with you anywhere and practice – create mixes while on the bus!
  • You can record and save your mixes
  • Great for professional DJ’s and people wanting to get into the DJ scene!
The Bad
  • Cannot modify two or more controls simultaneously
  • Pitch only speed adjustment
  • Lack of scratch control

This pocket sized DJ Mixer is for:

  1. Professional DJ’s wanting to interact more with his audiences
  2. Anybody wanting a cheap, easy way to start DJing
  3. Someone who wants to practice, experiment and create mixes while travelling
  4. Students and party-goers who want to take the party with them easily to every house party

Overall, for the price you will pay for this DJ Mixer, I have to say that it is the best portable DJ device currently on the market which is why it won innovation awards when it was original released in 2008. I will not hesitate to say that this DJ Mixer has nothing on a setup with Pioneer CDJ’s for example, but what it does have is the ability to leave the booth and heaps of creativity. I think this will be a winner among young DJ’s, especially because it can be used literally anywhere!

Let me show you what current owners think:

Mr. M. Charalambous.,

I’d heard a lot of great stuff about the Pacemaker from DJ friends, so when it arrived, I couldn’t wait to get the box open. The packaging itself was pretty cool – all black and sleek with photos of mysterious Day-Glo-coloured people in various states of repose, wearing headphones. Once I slid the outer sleeve off and got down to the inner chamber, there she was, nestled snugly in a bed of black foam.
